The porch

 

One major concern with the porch is that someday it may have to be torn down. It has some major structural support issues that may not last forever. Until then, we will work with what we have.

What we have done so far:

• Tore down all the old paneling on the wall of the house, exposing the original door and one of the second windows.
• Replaced three broken windows with plexi-glass.

What we love:

• Natural sunlight
• Size
• Light fixture
• All the windows

What we want to fix/improve:

• Cover all the old tongue and groove with new sheet rock
• Frame the two existing windows on the house
• Replace the screen doors
• Paint the sub floor until we can afford new flooring (the porch is kind of last on our list far as flooring goes)
• Paint the walls and ceiling
• Maybe install an additional light fixture on the other side (we have a couple of the same ones down in the basement)
• Repaint the red bench
• Buy some furniture for the porch
• Hang hooks for coats
• Have a shoe spot
